Former NV Energy Counsel Joins Husch Blackwell's Energy & Natural Resources Team

Husch Blackwell welcomes Michael J. Eason as Sr. Counsel in the firm’s Kansas City, Mo., office. Eason joins the firm’s Energy & Natural Resources industry team, bringing experience as a senior attorney for a publicly-traded, three billion dollar utility holding company later acquired by Berkshire Hathaway Energy Company.

Prior to joining Husch Blackwell, Eason served four years as associate general counsel for NV Energy, a Las Vegas-based utility holding company whose principal subsidiaries generate, transmit and distribute electric service in northern and southern Nevada. Eason was the senior attorney responsible for the company’s corporate and commercial transactions and corporate governance matters, and served as a legal advisor to the company’s general counsel and senior management team. Eason’s prior experience also includes serving as senior counsel for Embarq Corporation, a six billion dollar telecommunications company, and six years in private practice with Husch Blackwell’s legacy firm, Blackwell Sanders Peper Martin LLP.

Eason received his J.D., cum laude, from Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago, Illinois, where he graduated Order of the Coif and was an editorial board member and author for the Journal of Criminal Law & Criminology. Eason received his B.A., summa cum laude, in Economics, from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
