Alternative Dispute Resolution

Finding the best path.

Although Husch Blackwell attorneys stand ready to vigorously defend clients’ interests in court, we realize that effective advocacy takes many forms. Alternative dispute resolution (ADR) is a cost-effective, efficient and creative approach to settling disputes. We recommend ADR when we believe it will best serve clients’ interests and help them avoid the potential business disruptions that result from lengthy litigation.

Our attorneys have gained a national reputation as leading advocates in ADR. Several of our senior attorneys are qualified arbitrators and mediators. As members of the American Arbitration Association (AAA), the Center for Public Resources, the International Academy of Mediators and the College of Commercial Arbitrators, they gain deep insight into the nuances of ADR  proceedings. Some attorneys also serve as special masters in federal and state courts.

Our guidance to clients on alternative dispute resolution (ADR) includes:

Arbitration

We have successfully handled thousands of arbitration cases for business and commercial clients. The attorneys on our team are persuasive communicators and trial lawyers, which frequently translates to success before a panel of arbitrators.

Mediation

We often propose mediation as a way to accelerate the negotiation process and resolve cases as economically as possible. Mediation also allows for more paths to resolution and greater control over the ultimate outcome.

Neutral arbitration/mediation

When clients require a qualified neutral third party to serve as a mediator, our experience and knowledge allow us to facilitate a mutually acceptable settlement for the parties involved.

Other forms of ADR

Along with arbitration and mediation, our attorneys have deep experience in ADR methods such as early neutral evaluation, mini-trials, multistep ADR, summary jury trials and industry expert evaluations.
