Alternative Dispute Resolution

Coming to Terms

Conflicts in the business world often extend beyond the boardroom. When litigation ensues, company executives are confronted by potential business disruptions and lengthy litigation. Rather than resorting to court action, parties to a lawsuit often have the option to choose alternative, more efficient mechanisms for resolving disputes.

Husch Blackwell attorneys utilize alternative dispute resolution (ADR) as a cost-effective, efficient and creative approach to settling disputes. We have extensive experience in all aspects of dispute resolution and have gained a national reputation as leading advocates and experts in the field. Although we stand ready to vigorously defend your interests in court, we realize that effective advocacy comes in many forms. We recognize the value of ADR and recommend it to our clients when we believe it will serve their interests best.

Our experience includes:

  • Arbitration. Tough and effective advocacy is our hallmark. We have successfully handled thousands of cases for business and commercial clients. The attorneys on our team are persuasive communicators and trial lawyers, skills that frequently bring success before a panel of arbitrators.
  • Mediation. We often propose mediation as a means to accelerate the negotiation process and resolve cases economically. Mediation also allows for greater creativity in resolving disputes and greater control over the ultimate outcome.
  • Neutral arbitration/mediation. Several of our senior attorneys are qualified arbitrators and mediators, have been on panels of the American Arbitration Association and the Center for Public Resources and are members of the International Academy of Mediators and the College of Commercial Arbitrators. Our depth of knowledge as neutrals inures to your benefit, whether we represent you in mediation or whether you need a qualified neutral to serve as a mediator. Some attorneys also serve as special masters in federal and state courts.
  • Other forms of ADR. Along with arbitration and mediation, we have experience in early neutral evaluation, minitrials, multistep ADR, summary jury trials, industry expert evaluations and other ADR alternatives.
