Richard brings extensive political and business experience to his role as Managing Director of Governmental Affairs in the Kansas City office. He is regarded as one of the leading Democratic political professionals in the Midwest.
Prior to joining Husch Blackwell in 2007, he served as the campaign manager for Claire McCaskill who was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2006. His political experience also includes serving as the successful campaign manager for Bob Holden, elected Missouri Governor in 2000, and as the State Director for the Clinton-Gore re-election campaign in 1996. From 1993 to 1996 he was the Executive Director of the Missouri Democratic Party. He is a frequent guest on local radio and television shows offering his insight and political opinion.
Richard’s business experience includes work as Director of External Tax Policy with Sprint Nextel from 2000 to 2006. In 1996, he was one of the first hires in the Sprint PCS governmental affairs department, a department that he helped grow and that was later merged with Sprint. He also has worked in real estate development as Director of Marketing for T.F. Stone Companies and as a Regional Sales Manager for a national radio network.
