Michael is a member of Husch Blackwell’s Healthcare, Life Sciences & Education team and brings a science and research background to his practice. An intellectual property attorney, Michael works on pharmaceutical as well as other types of patent preparation and prosecution, preparation of validity and infringement opinions and litigation matters. He applies an educational background in biology and deep legal experience in vigorously protecting the patents and trademarks of his clients in biochemistry, virology, genetics, transgenic plants and animals, plant biology and biochemistry, pharmacognosy, biophysics, bioinformatics and molecular modeling.
Prior to law school, Michael worked with a startup biotechnology company in Ann Arbor, Mich., developing large-scale avian protein expression systems. At the University of Michigan Office of Technology Transfer, he advised startup companies on issues, including Food and Drug Administration (FDA) law, medical device approval requirements, and laboratory and computer network design.
