In that representation, Lisa regularly interacts with the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Office of the Inspector General (OIG), and other state and federal enforcement authorities.

Lisa’s practice is supported by her industry experience, as she is a licensed clinical social worker and was previously a psychotherapist at a St. Louis-based agency.

Healthcare Fraud Defense

  • Resolved criminal charges against a doctor and his practice including associated civil issues and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services exclusion litigation.
  • Conducted internal investigations for health care entities related to areas such as healthcare fraud, employee misconduct, data breaches, and employee workplace complaints and provided recommendations to clients to reduce the risks of compliance-related enforcement actions and investigations.
  • Represented home health provider, dentist, and adult day care provider in criminal investigation by the Missouri Fraud Control Unit regarding fraudulent billing.
  • Represented pharmacist and a pharmacy corporation in federal criminal prosecution and related resolution of civil false claims and exclusion actions.
  • Represented clinical lab in a federal anti-kickback statute criminal investigation.
  • Represented provider of drug and alcohol treatment services in a criminal investigation by the Louisiana Fraud Control Unit of alleged fraudulent billing and potential kick-backs.

Compliance

  • Prepared and conducted trainings related to effective hiring practices informed by compliance investigations and the integration of company Code of Conduct values into department operations.
  • Participated in the review, implementation and creation of a comprehensive compliance program for a national medical device manufacturer. Assisted the company in analyzing compliance risks associated with the False Claims Act and Anti-Kickback statutes.
  • Participated in a comprehensive compliance review of a managed-care health plan and provided the company with recommendations for strengthening compliance measures.
