His legal knowledge has helped a wide array of healthcare providers and entities identify potential regulatory risk in ongoing operations and proposed transactions and structure such operations and transactions to achieve a desirable outcome while minimizing regulatory risk.
Kris’ first exposure to healthcare law came early in his legal career where, unexpectedly, his engineering background provided him with the tools to assist hospitals in analyzing large volumes of data related to Medicaid supplemental funding to obtain more favorable funding determinations from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. Although Kris’ engagements in the healthcare industry cover a wide range of issues, he focuses primarily on fraud and abuse compliance, licensing and reimbursement. He also works with clients on commercial litigation involving healthcare issues and he prosecutes U.S. trademarks and patents and assists clients in the development of intellectual property strategies.
