Joan is an experienced member of Husch Blackwell’s Food & Agribusiness team who counsels and protects clients through her business and intellectual property practice. She also counsels clients on food safety issues, particularly those related to the implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). For more than 20 years, Joan has tried cases and provided domestic and international intellectual property and business counseling to a wide variety of companies, including those in the food, precision agriculture, animal health, agricultural technology and fashion industries. She is a veteran in state and federal courts and has significant first chair experience in high stakes cases, including emergency preliminary injunction matters. Joan is also unique in that she has a Ph.D. in Communication Studies and Jury Behavior and has acted as a trial consultant in performing jury studies, and case presentation and theme development.
Joan is a business-savvy, tenacious trial attorney and negotiator focused on advancing the goals of clients who often seek her counsel to manage and protect assets and maximize rewards.
