Over a year and a half into the Name, Image and Likeness era of college sports, the NCAA continues to evolve its interim policy and determine whether it can have meaningful rules and enforcement in this area. Furthermore, following the adoption of a new NCAA Constitution, the NCAA Division I Transformation Committee submitted its final set of reform recommendations on January 3. The current college athletics model also continues to be challenged in courts—in particular, the question of whether some college athletes should be deemed employees of their schools.

2023 promises to bring additional changes to college athletics governance as a new NCAA president takes the helm, and reverberations from 2021’s NCAA v. Alston U.S. Supreme Court decision continue to be felt at all levels of college athletics.

In this webinar, Husch Blackwell attorneys will discuss key takeaways from the current NCAA regulatory structure, in particular as it relates to NIL, the evolution of college athletics in 2022, and what institutions can expect in the new year.
