Guests include Husch Blackwell LLP partner Jessica Zeratsky and Milwaukee Business Journal reporter Nick Williams.

A local Paycheck Protection Program expert joined the Milwaukee Business Journal podcast this week, just days before the program reopens.

Jessica Zeratsky is a partner at Husch Blackwell LLP. As part of her work with the law firm, Zeratsky has spent the past several months providing insights into the forgivable loan program, which is set to begin a phased reopening Monday. Zeratsky returned to the podcast to provide an update on what the Small Business Administration has shared so far about the next iteration of the Covid-19 relief program.

Listen to the podcast below to hear from Zeratsky about key changes to the program and what borrowers should know about the new PPP. The interview was recorded Jan. 7, before the SBA announced the reopening schedule.

Although many questions are still open, Zeratsky said the details provided by the agency so far offer more clarity than lenders, borrowers and advisers had at this stage last year.

“I think it’s robust because the SBA learned that they should anticipate some of these follow-up questions,” Zeratsky said.

She said the agency this time around did a better job providing answers upfront about information borrowers will want before they consider applying.

Later in the podcast, hear from Milwaukee Business Journal reporter Nick Williams about his round-up of 21 Wisconsin startups to watch in 2021.

“These are companies that just either launched recently or had a big, splashy headline in 2020, and they’re going to grow on that this year, I believe,” Williams said.

The round-up appears in Friday’s edition of the Milwaukee Business Journal and can be found online here.
