The Nebraska State Bar Foundation inducted Husch Blackwell Partners Michael S. Degan and H. Dale Dixon into Fellowship at the 2011 Fellows Dinner on April 2.
Lawyers are nominated by existing Fellows; only 30 lawyers receive the Fellow title annually. Those considered for the honor must display integrity, be an established Nebraska lawyer dedicated to improving the administration of justice, and a leader in the legal profession recognized by colleagues.
The Foundation serves Nebraska's citizens and legal community by administering and funding educational programs that advance its goal of equal justice for all. It also seeks to advance the science of jurisprudence, uphold high standards for the judiciary and lawyers, aid charities and welfare programs, and assist with the furnishing, funding or managing of any property relative to the justice system rendered to the public.
Degan and Dixon practice out of the firm's Omaha, Neb., office. Degan practices in the areas of Business Litigation, Products Liability and Insurance Litigation. He advises and represents businesses in a wide range of industries in litigation and dispute resolution. He has tried numerous cases to verdict in state and federal courts, and has appeared in more than 30 state and federal jurisdictions. He also represents insurance companies in coverage disputes and bad faith litigation and serves as national coordinating counsel for products litigation for a national trade organization. In addition to his involvement with the Foundation, Degan serves on the Public Service Committee for the Omaha Bar Association.
Dixon concentrates his practice in Banking & Finance, specifically concentrating on structured finance and finance transactions. He represents issuers and borrowers with term and variable funding securitizations and other secured and unsecured commercial lending transactions. Dixon also represents banks and other financial institutions in connection with regulatory matters. In addition, Dixon represents public and private companies with capital raising, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures.
