Our attorneys regularly represent clients in matters south of the U.S. border. We combine a wide breadth of experience and strong relationships with the top local law firms throughout Mexico, Central America and South America to address our clients’ legal interests.
We learn the businesses and philosophies of our clients and develop standardized procedures and documentation to successfully complete transactions and resolve issues across jurisdictional borders. Collaboration and management of local counsel and business leaders with whom we have developed relationships help provide clients with the necessary knowledge of local law, customs and business climate.
Our firm works on a wide variety of transactions for our clients operating in Mexico, including commercial real estate leasing, condominium and resort development, import and export matters, NAFTA-related issues, and contracting with the Mexican government.
Examples of our work in South America include representation of real estate development and management companies in Brazil, general corporate and joint venture matters in Peru, negotiation of distribution agreements in Chile and Ecuador, and formation of an oil and gas joint venture in Colombia. In Central America, we’ve represented oil and gas producers in Belize, energy producers in Guatemala, banking clients and real estate developers in Costa Rica, and mining companies in Panama and Nicaragua.
