Husch Blackwell Sanders attorney Matthew J. Smith was recently selected to join the 2011 class of Leadership Denver, a Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation program.
Leadership Denver selects applicants who have a commitment to community service and demonstrate leadership skills to participate in their 11-month program. The class of 55 diverse leaders learn about various challenges facing the Denver Metro area and how they can enhance the civic infrastructure of their region.
Smith is a Partner in the firm's Denver office and specializes in complex commercial litigation and securities-related arbitration and litigation. He represents public companies, directors and officers of public companies, broker-dealers and individuals in securities and regulatory matters. His commercial litigation experience includes breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duties, fraud and trademark infringement claims.
In addition to his legal work, Smith is heavily involved within the Denver community. He and his wife serve as family ambassadors for Denver's Children Hospital, assisting families with critically ill children, and helping with hospital programs and fundraisers. Smith is also currently on the sub-committee of the hospital's Right ID Patient Project, and was recently appointed to the Quality and Patient Safety Counsel. In addition to volunteering at the hospital, Smith is actively involved with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Denver and the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce.
