Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce that Lisa M. Krigsten has joined the firm as a Partner in the area of Government Compliance, Investigations & Litigation and White Collar Criminal Defense. Krigsten will split her time between the firm’s Kansas City and Washington, D.C., offices.
Krigsten is a former Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights for the U.S. Department of Justice. While in that position, she supervised the national enforcement of federal anti-discrimination laws involving employment, fair housing, banking, law enforcement activity, voting, education and immigration. She also worked closely with the White House and Congress on significant regulatory and legislative issues, including the recent amendments to the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Prior to holding that position, Krigsten served as a prosecutor for more than a decade. As a former federal prosecutor, she has led high-profile, complex criminal investigations and prosecutions across the United States. She received several Justice Department awards, including two Special Commendations for outstanding trial work. Krigsten began her legal career as a prosecutor in her home state of Iowa, where she prosecuted violent crime and financial fraud cases.
Krigsten has been an Adjunct Lecturer for Trial Advocacy for the University of Iowa College of Law and is an Editorial Board member for the American Bar Association’s Criminal Justice Section Newsletter. Immediately prior to joining Husch Blackwell, Krigsten was a Shareholder in the Litigation Division of another Kansas City law firm. She earned her J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law (1995) and her B.A. from the University of Kansas (1992).
