Focusing her practice in patent, trademark and copyright prosecution and licensing with particular emphasis on biochemical and chemical patent prosecution, Lara works in all phases of patent, trademark and copyright procurement. Her practice includes client counseling; preparation and prosecution of patent and trademark applications; proceedings before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board; foreign patent and trademark protection; licensing of intellectual property rights; and infringement, validity, patentability, due diligence and freedom to operate studies.
Lara represents clients in a variety of technologies including pharmaceuticals; biotechnology (such as protein technology); monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies; medical packaging and administration devices; polymer film technologies; pet and animal foods and products; drug delivery systems; agricultural chemistry such as pesticides and herbicides; nutritionals and nutriceuticals; and chemical compounds, compositions and processes.
Lara is an adjunct professor of Intellectual Property Law at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. She joined the firm as a Partner in 2005.
