Jeff focuses on all aspects of creditors’ rights including bankruptcy, complex commercial loan workouts and restructuring, receiverships, foreclosure of real and personal property, lawsuits on notes and guaranties, fraudulent conveyances, and other pre- and post-judgment remedies in state and federal court. He represents secured lenders in commercial and residential real estate developments, manufacturing, floor-plan financing and asset-based loans. An experienced trial lawyer, Jeff has successfully defended lenders in over 35 distinct lender liability claims.

Jeff also counsels and defends financial institutions and creditors in a wide variety of compliance and operational issues including the 12 CFR “alphabet soup;” financial privacy; information sharing; FACTA “Red Flags” and state breach notification; record retention; mortgage and other consumer lending; UCC Articles 3, 4, 4A, and 9; subpoenas; garnishments and levies; account titling and ownership disputes; FCRA, FDCPA and TCPA; and allegations of unfair, deceptive and abusive acts and practices. Jeff is the firm’s leader on consumer financial services including the newly created Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection.

From 1991 to 1995, Jeff was Counsel and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the U.S. Small Business Administration. He then served as Associate General Counsel and Head of Litigation for Magna Group, Inc. from 1995 to 1998, one of the then 75 largest U.S. banks. He joined Husch Blackwell as a Partner in 2003.
