Partner Gary D. Gilson was quoted in an article regarding the often overlooked merger and acquisition activity at Midwest law firms. Chair of the firm's Mergers & Acquisitions group, Gilson explains that although Midwest firms are competing with larger coastal firms, they have a unique advantage. "Some people out here in the Midwest don't want to work with a New York law firm," he says, explaining that Midwest firms offer "a higher degree of pragmatism, responsiveness (and) a different negotiating style." Another obvious advantage is the cost savings. In addition, Gilson notes that while Husch Blackwell is headquartered in Missouri, the firm's practice "really isn't bounded by the geography around our offices ....Our practices are virtual, and we represent clients all across the country."
