American Health Lawyers Association Ranks Firm First in Missouri, 18th Nationwide
The American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) gave Husch Blackwell Top Honors for its attorney involvement within the organization. Husch Blackwell was ranked number 18 on a national list of law firms with 46 AHLA members nationwide. The firm also has the most AHLA members in Missouri, with AHLA members in its Kansas City, Springfield, Jefferson City and St. Louis offices.
Five of Husch Blackwell's members currently serve in AHLA leadership roles. Barb Miltenberger is a member of the Board of Directors; Harvey M. Tettlebaum serves as Chair of the AHLA Fellows Coordinating Committee for 2011; David T. Lewis as Vice Chair of the Physicians and Physician Organizations Practice Group; David Pursell as a Vice Chair of its Hospitals and Health Systems' Fair Market Value Affinity Group; and Robert Hess as a member of the Young Professionals Council. Miltenberger, Tettlebaum and Hess work in the firm's Jefferson City, Mo., office, Lewis in Chattanooga, Tenn., and Pursell in Kansas City, Mo.
The firm was also recognized for having 100 percent involvement, with all attorneys in the Healthcare law department belonging to the AHLA, and for having active attorneys in every AHLA practice group. The AHLA is an educational organization comprising more than 10,000 members that serves as a public resource on legal healthcare issues.
Husch Blackwell's Healthcare attorneys represent clients in transactional, operational, regulatory and administrative matters. The group's clientele includes hospitals and health systems, healthcare professionals and long-term care and nursing facilities. Many members of the Healthcare team worked in the healthcare industry as counselors, researchers, administrative coordinators and academics before joining Husch Blackwell, providing valuable insight for the firm. In addition to the group's involvement in AHLA, many are also active members of the Health Care Compliance Association and several are noted as high achievers by groups including The Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA and Super Lawyers.
