Husch Blackwell is pleased to announce that Chuck Ambrose has joined the firm’s Higher Education group as a senior consultant and will work out of the firm’s virtual Link office.

Ambrose has spent over four decades in higher education administration, including 23 years as a college president. Most notably, he served as president of the University of Central Missouri— where he was credited with the development of the Missouri Innovation Campus and recognized as the only college president to receive the Governor’s Economic Development Award—and as chancellor of Henderson State University, where he was tasked with providing direction and leadership during a crisis and ultimately achieved the largest cost containment in the shortest amount of time for any four-year public university.

In providing insights on policy, strategy, and performance refinement to higher education leaders, Ambrose will draw on his wealth of experience and knowledge as one of a select few who have served as president of both a public and private higher education institution, as well as having served in a leadership role with a national foundation.

“I am excited to join the Husch Blackwell team. The firm really stands apart from the field in terms of its depth of industry knowledge and the scope of services it provides to college leaders,” said Ambrose. “It is a brave new world in higher ed, and for many schools, focusing on the core mission while managing operational and financial disruption is going to require a lot of creativity and outside-the-box thinking.”

“We have always been impressed by Chuck’s comprehensive understanding of how each piece of the higher ed puzzle fits into the whole,” said Husch Blackwell partner Hayley Hanson. “We are very pleased to have a resource like Chuck on board, and our clients are going to benefit greatly from his expertise as they address the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.”

Ambrose is a frequent speaker and writer on higher education topics and is the co-author of the forthcoming book Colleges on the Brink: The Case for Financial Exigency from Rowman & Littlefield Publishers.
