Member of the Firm Gregory J. Minana led the Husch & Eppenberger trial team in a significant medical malpractice victory which was recognized as the #5 (tie) Top Defense Verdict of 2007 in the January 28, 2008 edition of Missouri Lawyers Weekly.
Minana had two medical malpractice victories recognized in Missouri Lawyers Weekly's Top Defense Verdicts of 2006 (#4 and #8).
In the matter, Husch's Minana and Associate Attorney Michael P. Nolan defended two surgeons specializing in laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery. The suit was brought by a former patient who alleged that she suffered from permanent neurological injuries as a result of a vitamin deficiency following her obesity surgery. Throughout the case, Plaintiff refused to ever make a settlement demand. In closing, Plaintiff asked the jury for $4 million. On November 7, 2007, Husch obtained a complete defense verdict after a week-long jury trial in St. Charles County that had been pending for over five years.
Minana's primary area of concentration is medical malpractice defense, representing physicians, hospitals, and nursing homes. He also has significant experience in general commercial litigation, including contract and trademark representation, and product liability defense. Mr. Minana has successfully tried over 45 jury cases, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. Additionally, he has successfully argued before the Missouri Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Missouri as both appellant and appellee. In 1999 he was awarded the David Dixon Award for appellate advocacy by The Missouri Bar and the Missouri Appellate Judges.
