41 Attorneys Top-Listed

Chambers USA 2011: America's Leading Lawyers for Business has released its new rankings.

Husch Blackwell continues to receive top-tier Band 1 rankings in the following areas: Corporate/M&A and Labor & Employment; Environmental and Real Estate; and Corporate/Commercial.

Husch Blackwell is recognized among market leaders for its Mergers & Acquisitions work, says Chambers. Firm clients, who act as Chambers sources, say "it is deserving of recognition as one of the few practices able to handle an array of public company and M&A work."

In regard to Husch Blackwell's Labor & Employment work, Chambers declares it is "widely held to be one of the strongest players in [Missouri's] principal business centers." Sources say the firm "still benefits from increased strength following the merger and has one of the largest lawyer head counts in the field."

Husch Blackwell's Environmental clients say the group is "a strong performer, with accomplished, aggressive and technically excellent lawyers," and Chambers concludes its top ranking is well-deserved.

Chambers said Husch Blackwell's Real Estate group is well-suited for handling a wide variety of work for local, regional and national clients. The team handles transactions ranging from traditional purchase and sale agreements to commercial and residential leases, and development incentive agreements to complex mortgage securitizations.

Husch Blackwell's Corporate/Commercial team includes attorneys with experience involving corporate governance, officer and director fiduciary duties, sophisticated commercial contracting and regulatory compliance. Regarding the Corporate attorneys, a source says "the team has the expertise to advise on all areas we've branched into and can provide us with complete business counsel."

Husch Blackwell also received praise for its Litigation: General Commercial work. The group is recognized for handling a great deal of commercial and environmental litigation, with clients in a vast array of industries. One source notes the team "offers a lot of advantages. It's more cost-effective than East or West Coast firms ... and the lawyers are highly client-friendly."

This year, 41 Husch Blackwell attorneys were selected as leaders in their respective fields. Omaha Labor & Employment Partner Michaelle L. Baumert is new to the list this year.

Chambers USA selects attorneys for recognition by reviewing submissions from law firms, conducting interviews with attorneys and clients, and researching attorneys through database resources. Chambers researches, compiles and launches completely new editions of its directories each year.

Categories in which attorneys can be ranked as exceptional individuals include “Senior Statesman,” who no longer works hands-on with the same intensity but who, by virtue of close links with major clients, remains pivotal to the firm’s success. “Up and Coming” recognizes those who do not yet have an established reputation but who are driving their firm's growth. The qualities on which rankings are assessed include technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial astuteness, diligence, commitment and other qualities most valued by the client.
