Husch Blackwell Partner Gary A. Powell was sworn in January 21 as President of the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association (SMBA) at the organization's 38th Annual Installation Banquet.
Powell is one of two Springfield Office Managing Partners and a member of Husch Blackwell's Partner Board. He concentrates his practice in the areas of Trusts & Estates, Tax, Mergers & Acquisitions and Corporate law. Powell works extensively with business owners and individuals in estate and business planning and transactions.
Founded in 1903, the SMBA has over 900 attorney members and provides networking and educational opportunities throughout Southwest Missouri. Presidential candidates are selected by a nominating committee of the Board of Directors and SMBA members vote on that nomination. Active in the SMBA for a number of years, Powell served as President-Elect in 2010.
