Gary serves as the Chair of Husch Blackwell’s Insolvency Department and as a member of the firm’s Partner Board. His primary areas of concentration include serving as national and/or regional insolvency counsel for lenders. Gary represents secured lenders and creditors’ committees in commercial financial restructurings and bankruptcies and serves as special insolvency counsel for a number of bank clients. In addition, he has served as a Court appointed bankruptcy examiner and Chapter 11 Responsible Person.
Gary represented the Unsecured Creditors’ Committee in the Farmland Industries, Inc. bankruptcy which was one of the 20 largest bankruptcies in the world in 2002 with scheduled debt of approximately $1.9 billion. The ultimate payment to unsecured creditors in the case was in excess of 100% of their allowed claims. In addition, Gary has served as creditors’ committee counsel in the Chapter 9 proceedings of a school district and a hospital.
Gary has worked on the development of a Case Management System for the firm which provides a secure extranet management approach for management of the cases of our clients and sharing attorney-client electronic information and files. This secure client access application allows clients convenient, 24/7 access to shared private files and reports which provide case information needed to effectively keep clients informed; manage the matters we handle for clients; provide custom reports to the management of clients; and provide cost savings to clients.
