Husch Blackwell Sanders Partner Edward D. Manzo was named new President of the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago -- the oldest bar association (and one of the largest) in the United States dedicated to intellectual property law. Manzo previously served IPLAC as Litigation Committee Chair, Membership Committee Chair, a board member, Vice President, President-Elect and Principal Counsel in several amicus briefs filed with the U.S. Supreme Court as well as the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Manzo recently joined Husch Blackwell's Chicago office after 11 years with Cook Alex Ltd., where he was a senior Co-Founder, Shareholder and Executive Vice-President. He has practiced intellectual property law for decades and was recognized as a Top 100 Illinois Super Lawyer® in 2010. He counsels and litigates on behalf of diverse clients. He worked on the court committees that drafted the local patent rules for the Northern District of Illinois (effective Oct. 1, 2009) and the Seventh Circuit pattern jury instructions for patent cases (adopted in 2008). Manzo teaches patent law at DePaul University College of Law as an Adjunct Professor and is Editor-in-Chief of two annual West books on patent claim interpretation.
