Ed is on the firm’s Partner and Executive Boards and is Chair of the Banking & Finance Department. Prior to joining Husch Blackwell in 1984, he practiced with two other St. Louis law firms and was Associate Counsel of Centerre Bank N.A., where he managed the daily operations of the legal department.
In the tax credit area, Ed manages historic rehabilitation, low-income and New Markets Tax Credit matters for investors, lenders and developers. He provides advice about the structuring of transactions involving such credits, supervises the drafting of appropriate documents and analyzes pertinent issues throughout the transactions. He also works on the purchase and sale of various state tax credits. He manages loan transactions involving incentivized finance transactions, including TIFs, CIDs and various types of state tax credits.
Ed has extensive commercial lending experience, handling virtually every type of financing transaction, including asset-based lending and the financing of mineral and admiralty rights. He routinely works with national, regional and local banks and other financial institutions. He also works with inter-creditor situations and has handled major workouts for a number of national lenders.
Ed’s practice includes handling commercial real estate matters for borrowers, developers and lenders. He spends a good deal of time with all types of real estate finance transactions, including construction and permanent loans and loans secured by leasehold interests.
