Law Students
Learn through Experience
Our Summer Associates are presented with challenging responsibilities and opportunities. They work alongside our partners and associates, contribute to trials, participate in the structuring and negotiating of business transactions, and take part in client conferences. We provide our Summer Associates a stimulating, real world experience so they are fully prepared to take on the responsibilities of a practicing lawyer.
Each Summer Associate is paired with a mentor, typically a mid-level associate highly knowledgeable about the firm, who provides guidance, advice, and training throughout the summer. The mentoring relationship helps Summer Associates take full advantage of their summer experience and helps prepare them for their legal careers. Summer Program Coordinators are responsible for collecting and providing work projects for the Summer Associates, and the Coordinators formally review the students several times over the course of the summer. Also, Summer Associates receive constructive feedback about their work product directly from the lawyers with whom they work.
Get to Know Each Other
Besides working together preparing for a trial or negotiating a business transaction, Summer Associates have many opportunities to become acquainted with our lawyers. Department and practice group meetings provide information to Summer Associates about the scope of our specific areas of legal practice. Summer Associates are also invited to lunch with lawyers, either individually or in small groups. Our Summer Associates are not required to work around the clock—numerous social events are planned throughout the summer, in addition to several other “get to know each other” activities.
We provide our Summer Associates complex, sophisticated client challenges and the camaraderie of senior lawyers who encourage hands-on opportunities and participation. We invite you to further explore our Summer Associate Program by submitting your resume and cover letter through our online application process, or registering for an on-campus or job fair interview.
