ADA Regulations for Healthcare Organizations

Webinar
4.28.11

Online

Healthcare organizations should be aware of the significant changes to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations. These changes, which are the first in 20 years, will require healthcare services to be more accessible to persons with disabilities.

Please join Husch Blackwell Partner Lisa Krigsten for a webinar on how these regulations impact your organization. As the former Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights for the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., Krigsten is well-versed in these regulations and their impact on healthcare providers. She routinely advises Husch Blackwell clients about ADA compliance issues and will identify the top issues on which all healthcare organizations should focus.

Topics

  • New design and construction requirements for Title II and III facilities
  • A change to the definition of "service animal"
  • The mandate to ensure effective communication with a patient as well as a patient's companion
  • An increasing expectation that accessible medical equipment, including adjustable height beds, will be available in exam rooms
  • An expectation that accessible medical equipment, including accessible radiological equipment, will be available for use with patients with mobility disabilities
