Scope of Practice
Alan has extensive energy experience including oil and gas and renewable energy. He routinely advises wind, solar and oil & gas companies in all aspects of their activities including reviewing, structuring, and negotiating acquisitions and development projects both domestically and internationally. Alan is an active energy industry participant including selection to the Kansas City Development Council’s Advance Energy Task Force, selection to the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators, and membership in the American Wind Energy Association, Solar Electric Power Association and Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation.

Significant Accomplishments
- Led international negotiation for oil and gas company leading to a successful thirty-five year oil and gas operating agreement with the Republic of Chile for the exploration and production of natural gas
- Serves as outside general counsel to public and private energy companies
- Routinely advises clients in the development, construction, acquisition and operations of renewable energy facilities including wind and solar projects
- Extensive experience in the negotiation of oil and gas exploration, joint operating and participation agreements
- Experience in federal and Indian energy projects
