Ed represents foreign and domestic clients in patent and trademark prosecution, litigation and counseling.

Ed has served as lead counsel in intellectual property cases in state and federal courts and administrative agencies throughout the United States, representing clients in the prosecution and defense of infringement actions, insurance coverage disputes involving infringement claims, and opposition and cancellation proceedings in the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

Ed played a prominent role representing the winning plaintiff in the landmark U.S. Supreme Court trademark case, Qualitex Company v. Jacobsen Products Co., Inc., which validated his argument that, under the right circumstances, a product’s color alone can be registered as a trademark.

He has spoken widely on intellectual property topics before bar association groups, business groups and the examining corps of the US Patent and Trademark Office.
