Ballard concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial bankruptcy, commercial loan workouts, out-of court restructurings, loan documentation and the protection of creditors’ rights. In addition to his bankruptcy practice, he is involved in a broad range of corporate matters, including the negotiation and drafting of business agreements, employment issues and regulatory and compliance matters.
Ballard represents several regional and national banks and other financial institutions in connection with their special assets work, commercial bankruptcy proceedings and commercial litigation. He also represents several national clients in connection with the workout/restructuring of troubled loans and leases.
Ballard has extensive experience in the prosecution and defense of preferential transfer actions as well as ancillary matters in connection with the bankruptcy cases in which he is involved. Additionally, he has represented the interests of several of the Chapter 7 panel trustees in the Eastern District of Tennessee during his career.
